Out of Pocket: How a social media group dubbed Mom Jeans is helping people fight inflation

Rising costs haven’t been easy on anyone, but especially for those raising kids on a single income or those with debt. Some have turned to social media to help fight inflation.

As mother of two managing a single-income household and battling rising debt, Lise LeBlanc founded the Facebook group Mom Jeans in May 2019.

“I needed to get out of debt. I know there are other people on my Facebook complaining about debt and this sort of thing. So, I said ‘This is what I’m doing. Is there anybody interested in participating in this? LeBlanc said.

“It kind of started as just this debt challenge, ‘Let’s motivate each other to get rid of debt,’ and it really has morphed into this whole community group,” she adds.
