After long facing criticism over withholding them, the federal government says it's about to turn over thousands of records on Canada's residential schools to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
The government has previously argued it could not release them due to third party obligations to various Catholic Church orders.
Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Marc Miller says it will take between 30 and 45 days to hand over the documents.
