It's advantage O Panneerselvam (OPS), the AIADMK Chief in Tamil Nadu after the Madras High Court restrained the party's general council from deciding on singular leadership amid attempts by the party's second-in-command former Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisami (EPS) to elevate himself to the position of General Secretary, a position earlier held by the party's icons late MGR and Jayalalithaa. There was palpable anger against OPS who wants the present dual leadership model to continue. Water bottles were hurled at OPS and the highest decision making body also rejected all 23 resolutions OPS had moved. The council also has called for another general council meet on July 11th to decide on single leadership without OPS' approval which his team calls is illegal. NDTV'S Sam Daniel spoke to Mr Kovai Sathyan, a spokesperson of the party.
