Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Tuesday that his government is investing $37 million in funding to expand mental health services across the province's justice system.

This investment is aimed at hiring additional mental health professionals to be on the line with police officers and to answer the mental health-related 911 calls.

It will also expand mobile crisis teams, and provide tailored programs for First Nations communities.

During Tuesday's briefing, Ford was also asked about the potential impact of COVID-19 on schools and whether they could be closed in the coming weeks, but the premier said they would need to wait for an official announcement from Education Minister Stephen Lecce.
