Olympic flag arrives in France as Paris prepares to host 2024 Games
The Olympic flag arrived in France on Monday after the close of the Games in Tokyo, Japan, over the weekend.

The city of Paris, which will host the 2024 Olympic Games, has promised to make the sporting spectacle open to the masses after the coronavirus pandemic forced Tokyo to close the Games to spectators.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said the Games would be “something very positive for our country,” adding that the city has learned many lessons from the experience of Tokyo.

The Tokyo Olmypics were delayed by a year and upended by strict COVID-19 countermeasures as contagious variants surged around the world ahead of the event.
