NWT wildfires: Misinformation a concern in remote northern region

In the Northwest Territories, more than 200 fires are burning. Temperatures are in the 20s and clear skies mean conditions are drying out quickly after yesterday's much needed but minor rainfall.

Wind gusts up to 35 kilometres an hour are pushing the Yellowknife fire east towards the city, but flames are still about 15 kilometres away.

Crews are concerned about possible thunderstorms and are expecting flare-ups this week, including on the fires burning around Hay River and Enterprise. Evacuation orders are in place for everyone in those communities and it will likely be weeks before residents are officially allowed to return.

The remoteness of the northern region means it's not only hard to get people out, but information as well. As Jeff Semple explains, getting correct information is harder than it should be.
