While some much-needed rain has helped keep wildfires close to Yellowknife at bay, strong winds are fanning wildfires near communities in the southern Northwest Territories.

The wall of flames moved with frightening speed towards the town of Hay River last week, and the nearest blaze now sits just one kilometre south of the community.

Jeff Semple reports from the scene on the concerns about the volatile situation, as military reinforcements arrive to fight the flames.
