Northern Ireland: DUP offer is 'significant', says Robert Buckland

Former justice secretary Robert Buckland, chair of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee, has told Sky News the step towards power-sharing is "significant".

The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) on Monday said it was endorsing a deal to restore power-sharing after a 23-month absence, providing a basis for Stormont's return.

He said: "I think last night's statement was significant, not just from the leadership of Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, but the fact that the DUP have a collective position now, an agreed position to come back into the executive and the assembly."
