Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley ended her long-shot challenge to Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump on Wednesday, ensuring the former president will be the candidate in a rematch against President Joe Biden in November.

Haley, who was Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations while he was president, made the announcement in a speech in Charleston, S.C., a day after Super Tuesday, in which Trump beat her soundly in 14 of 15 Republican contests.

“Our country is too precious to let our differences divide us,” Haley said, though she did not endorse him despite acknowledging he would be the Republican nominee.

Haley lasted longer than any other Republican challenger to Trump but never posed a serious threat to the former president, whose grip on the party remains strong despite multiple criminal indictments.
