NHS: Long waits for A&E treatment could lead to unnecessary deaths, estimates suggest

New analysis of NHS data has revealed that more than 250 patients a week could be dying unnecessarily due to the long waits for a bed in accident and emergency (A&E).

The NHS recovery plan says 76% of patients attending A&E should have been admitted, transferred or discharged within four hours in March, but just over 70% were seen in that timeframe.
