New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush commented on the Christchurch mosque shootings while speaking to the press in Wellington on Friday, confirming that one suspect has been charged with murder and will appear in court on Saturday.
"I would like to also add, that so far, one person, a male in his late twenties, has been charged with murder, and should appear in the Christchurch court tomorrow morning," Bush said.
Bush went on to speak about the three people who were detained by police, saying "three other people were apprehended, we believe one of those persons, who was armed, and was at the scene, may have had nothing to do with this incident, and the two other people that have been apprehended, again in possession of firearms in the general environment, we are working through to understand what their involvement is."
At least one gunman livestreamed footage of the attack on Facebook, which social media platforms are now attempting to remove. He has been identified as a man in his late 20s and also reportedly published a 74-page manifesto denouncing immigrants and multiculturalism.
