Thousands of people gathered in Christchurch's Hagley park on Friday to hold a memorial service in memory of those who were killed in the mosque shootings which occurred in the city two weeks before.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was in attendance, along with Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel, members of the Christchurch Islamic community, and other officials. A survivor of the shootings also spoke to the crowd at the event.
One resident, Emma Gables, spoke about the need to the sentiments felt at the rally forward, saying:
"we don't stop here, it's not just about coming to a memorial event, showing your respect and then carrying on as you may have been before. I think it's about change."
A total of 50 people were killed in the shootings and a further 50 were wounded in what was New Zealand's worst attack.
