Multiple politicians recently called out “demeaning” comments made by a Conservative MP toward Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly.

"You've talked tough with your Beijing counterparts, so you say. You even stared into his eyes," Michael Cooper said during an exchange with Joly.

"I am sure he was very intimidated."

Joly had been sparring with Conservative MPs before a parliamentary committee on Thursday about Chinese election interference and whether Canada has expelled any Chinese diplomats.
