A US court has been shown some of the last moments of George Floyd's life recorded by onlookers and heard witness testimony in the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin, who is accused of murdering the Black man on May 2, 2020.
On the third day of the trial cashier Christopher Martin testified that Floyd had handed him what he suspected was a counterfeit $20 bill, which eventually led to the police being called.
An autopsy later revealed fentanyl and methamphetamine in Floyd’s blood.
Chauvin’s lawyers argue that Floyd had actually died from a drug overdose - and not because the officer had put a chokehold on the deceased.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports from Minneapolis, the US.
