Former Justice Secretary Sir Robert Buckland has told Sky News the government is pushing the boundaries of international law - but not breaking them.

His comments came after Home Secretary Suella Braverman admitted her proposals were contentious.

Under the new plans to be published later, people who are caught crossing the Channel on small boats will be permanently banned from claiming asylum in the UK.
