Microsoft retires Internet Explorer after 27 years of service

It went from mighty to maligned. Now the notorious nuisance that is Internet Explorer (IE) is closing its windows for good. Microsoft is finally ceasing support for its former flagship web browser.

The program's demise was not a surprise. A year ago, Microsoft said that it was putting an end to Internet Explorer on June 15, 2022, pushing users to its Edge browser, which was launched in 2015.
