Canadian Michael Kovrig returned to Toronto, Ont., on Saturday for the first time in Canada since being detained in China for more than 1,000 days. He was met by his wife, Vina Nadjibulla, who embraced him after he left the plane.
His sister Ariana Botha was also there for his arrival, giving him a big hug as well as the family reunited for the first time since 2018.
Kovrig, as well as Michael Spavor, both returned to Canada early Saturday after Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou's U.S. extradition request had been withdrawn, allowing her to return to China.
