Prime Time With Ravish Kumar - February 5, 2021: Political leaders and celebrities have been up in arms over foreign nationals' support for the farmers protesting on the outskirts of Delhi following tweets by pop icon Rihanna. Amid a huge row over Rihanna's tweet on the farmers' protest, the government had warned against the "temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments". In its official response, the foreign ministry had blamed "vested interests" and suggested that before "rushing to comment on such matters, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand be undertaken". The protests, the government had said, were by "a very small section of farmers" Following the violence at the tractor rally on Republic Day -- when some farmers veered off the designated rally route and over-ran the iconic Red Fort -- the Delhi Police have strengthened security at the borders, with paramilitary reinforcements, concertina wires, barricades and studding highways with nails.
