March 7, 2022: Ukraine decries Moscow ‘immoral,’ 4,3000 anti-war protesters detained in Russia, Ukraine-Russia talks, South Korea, Australia floods

1. Moscow said it would let residents of Ukraine's two main cities flee in corridors to Russia and Belarus, a move Ukraine called an immoral stunt to weaponize the suffering of civilians under Russian bombardment.

2. Police detained more than 4,300 people at Russia-wide protests against President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, according to an independent protest monitoring group.

3. A Russian delegation has departed for Belarus where it will meet Ukrainian negotiators for the third round of talks about ending hostilities, the Sputnik Belarus news outlet reported.

4. The leader of South Korea's ruling party was hospitalized after being attacked while campaigning for this week's presidential election, a race already overshadowed by controversy and in which early voting has been marred by irregularities.

5. Frustration swelled among many flood-hit residents in Australia's east over slow relief and recovery efforts, as Sydney braced for more heavy downpours in the next two days that may trigger flash flooding and hamper current clean-up plans.
