At least 180 people have been killed in two months of unrest between Kuki and Meitei ethnic groups in Manipur state.
Troops were deployed and a curfew imposed to keep the peace, but the Kuki do not trust the Meitei-dominated state police and have resisted the army campaign to disperse their militias.
Opposition politicians in India have called for the government to restore peace, but both the Kuki and Meitei say that they still fear attacks and have continued to take up arms in response.
