Man charged with attempting to murder Salman Rushdie

A man has been charged with attempted murder after Salman Rushdie was stabbed during an event in New York.

Hadi Matar, 24, of New Jersey, was charged with attempted second degree murder.

Rushdie, 75, suffered a damaged liver, severed nerves in an arm and an eye, and was on a ventilator and unable to speak after the attack.
