The coastguards of Libya and Malta are conducting joint sea drills designed to deter migrants from crossing the Mediterranean.
The two countries agreed to the patrols in 2020 and say that it has been a success so far, with fewer people landing in Malta.
Those who are stopped are being returned to Libya.
Al Jazeera’s Malik Traina joined one of the coastguard boats off the coast of Malta.
