Thousands of people have heeded calls by Mali's military rulers for a nationwide protest against sanctions by the West African economic bloc, ECOWAS. The sanctions were imposed after the country's military coup leader delayed elections - due next month – until 2025.
The military government asked the public to demonstrate, calling the measures extreme.
