Ottawa's pandemic benefits were meant to help Canadians, particularly seniors and other vulnerable people.
Low-income Canadian seniors in particular were also already relying on other financial aid programs. Yet, tens of thousands of seniors have had their Guaranteed Income Supplement cut off or reduced because the pandemic benefits they received in 2020 had pushed them temporarily into a higher income bracket.
