Swarms of locusts have invaded hundreds of farms in different parts of South Africa in an outbreak that could see crops decimated across the semi-arid Karoo state.
It's a species that is native to Karoo - which encompasses the Northern, Eastern and Free State provinces - and is different to the Desert Locust that has plagued the Horn of Africa this year.
