India's space agency is launching a rocket attempting to land a rover on the moon currently scheduled to launch on 14 July 2023. This marks the country's arrival as a power in space exploration and the new frontier of space commerce. Only the United States, the former Soviet Union and China have made successful lunar landings.

Chandrayaan 3 is an ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) mission with the primary objective of putting a lander and rover in the highlands near the south pole of the Moon in the August 2023 timeframe and demonstrating end-to-end landing and roving capabilities.
