Donald Trump could owe more money to the writer E. Jean Carroll, at a second civil trial after she accused the former US president of raping her decades ago.

Jury selection will begin in Manhattan federal court. Jurors will decide how much in damages Trump owes over his June 2019 claim, which the judge has ruled defamatory, that he did not know Carroll and that the former Elle magazine columnist invented their encounter to sell her memoir.

A different jury awarded Carroll $5 million last May over a similar 2022 statement by Trump.
