Liberals keep edge in support over Tories, NDP: Ipsos Poll

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Canada, the governing Liberals are showing they still hold an edge in support of six per cent over the Conservatives, according to a new poll conducted by Ipsos exclusively for Global News.

The poll found if an election were held tomorrow, the Liberals would get 38 per cent, the Conservatives would receive 32 per cent, with the NDP obtaining 17 per cent, the Greens netting seven per cent and the Bloc Quebeçois grabbing six per cent of the national vote.

Ipsos CEO Darrell Bricker tells Global News the numbers show the Liberals are "knocking on the door" of obtaining a majority government, though they would need to increase their strength in some areas but it shows why the party is treating certain moves by the Opposition as confidence votes.
