The Liberal Democrats overturned a Conservative majority of 19,213 in the by-election, and now lead the Tories by 11,008 in Somerton and Frome. The victory came after the Conservatives held Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

Deputy leader of the Lib Dems, Daisy Cooper, told Sky News that she had asked voters to "vote tactically" and went on to discuss its importance.
