Legacy of final Soviet Union leader Gorbachev commemorated in German parliament

German lawmakers have been paying tribute to the last leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev during a commemorative session of parliament.

The Bundestag's president, Bärbel Bas, delivered a speech in his honour. And the parliament observed a minute's silence for Gorbachev who was buried in Moscow last week. Gorbachev's reform policies led to the end of the Cold War and to the reunification of East and West Germany.

Bärbel Bas reflected on Gorbachev's legacy.
