A case filed against a Muslim man from Uttar Pradesh by the parents of his wife, who converted to Islam last year to marry him, has been cancelled by the Allahabad High Court. In a detailed 14-page judgment on November 11 , a two-judge bench of the court said that Interference in a personal relationship would constitute a serious encroachment into the right to freedom of choice of the two individuals - a verdict that is significant in the middle of a fiery debate over so-called "love jihad". Meanwhile, The UP government has been first off the block to pass an ordinance against 'unlawful conversion'. On Left, Right & Centre, we ask: are laws against inter-faith marriage a threat to life and liberty?
