Over the term of the Conservative government for the last 14 years, defence spending was cut, and is now rising once again.

We put to Defence Secretary Grant Shapps that, in fact, there is not a huge amount of difference between the government and Labour's positions - the Conservatives are also now raising spending when economic conditions allow.
