Labour: London mayor supports giving Europeans an election vote

Sir Keir Starmer says he will hand the vote to millions of EU citizens if Labour wins the next general election.

London mayor Sadiq Khan said he supports the idea, telling Sky News: "I want everyone in our country not to be passive consumers but active citizens and that includes our EU friends and neighbours."

Opposition parties have accused the Labour leader of using the tactic to try to rig the next election because Europeans would be more likely to vote Labour.
