L.A. debates: Candidates square off in races for mayor and sheriff

Tune in for back-to-back debates with the leading candidates in the races for mayor of Los Angeles and sheriff of Los Angeles County. The mayoral debate, at 7 p.m. Pacific, will feature U.S. Rep. Karen Bass and developer Rick Caruso. The sheriff debate, at 6 p.m., will include Sheriff Alex Villanueva and retired Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna. Angelenos will vote Nov. 8 in a general election, which will include the runoff for the next mayor and sheriff.
The debate is co-hosted by the Los Angeles Times, along with Fox 11 LA, Univision 34, KPCC, the Skirball Cultural Center, the Los Angeles Urban League and Loyola Marymount University.
