A growing energy crisis is pushing Kyrgyzstan to increasingly rely on coal, hindering the government's response to pollution.
The country’s power infrastructure is almost entirely Soviet-era, with little to no investment in clean energy.
The demand for more power will mean burning record amounts of coal in coming years.
