Keir Starmer has been 'consistent' over his position on Diane Abbott

Ian Murray, Labour's shadow Scotland secretary, claims that Sir Keir Starmer has been "consistent" on his position over Diane Abbott.

He also said that no decision on whether Ms Abbott would be allowed to stand was made until today, and before that Starmer was only saying that nothing had been decided.

Mr Murray claims part of the confusion arose because of the short notice given for the election taking place, and Labour's National Executive Committee having to select hundreds of candidates last minute.
