Ahead of South Carolina’s Democratic primary on Feb. 3, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris delivered the keynote address to the state on Saturday, marking three years since the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the U.S. Capitol.

Republican supporters loyal to former U.S. President Donald Trump — who lost the 2020 just two months prior — believe the election was rigged and stolen from the business mogul; triggering the attacks that left five people dead and the foundation of America’s democracy unstable.

Harris reflected on the “violence, chaos, and lawlessness” of the fateful day, condemning Republicans involved for using “brutal force and fear to try and overturn the results of a free and fair election.”

Since his victory in late 2020, current U.S. President Joe Biden has credited democratic supporters from South Carolina for his victory in the presidential election.

"We are prepared to fight for all that we know is right and hold dear. And I know that when we fight, we win,” Harris said in her closing remarks, as Biden begins his presidential campaign for the 2024 election.
