Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he is withdrawing his request for parliamentary immunity from prosecution over charges of corruption.
Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement saying proceedings in parliament would have been a "circus", and he did not want to take part in the "dirty game".
Netanyahu was indicted on counts of fraud, breach of trust and bribery in November.
He has denied any wrongdoing.
Akiva Eldar, an Israeli columnist at the Al-Monitor, talks to Al Jazeera.
