US President Joe Biden is due to leave Washington in the coming hours to fly into the region.

His dual aims: to show his support for Israel and stop the conflict spreading.

He's expected to hold talks with Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, before travelling to Jordan for a four-way summit with King Abdullah, and the Egyptian and Palestinian presidents.
