Iran stands among the worst affected countries in the Middle East by the coronavirus pandemic with more than a million recorded cases and at least 54,000 deaths.
Since Iran can no longer rely on the international community to meet its medical needs, a group of dentists, made unemployed by the pandemic, decided to buy and run a makeshift medical mask factory in South Tehran. The factory employs 20 women who make about $120 each a month
The small factory is just one example of how necessity has forced domestic ingenuity to meet demands.
Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari reports from Tehran.
