The UN refugee agency, UNHCR, says tens of thousands of people have fled the recent violence in the Central African Republic to neighbouring countries.
Foreign forces supporting the government of the CAR have been battling a coalition of armed groups since last month.
Killing, looting and rape have sent tens of thousands of villagers on the run, many of the refugees crossing into the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The local UNHCR office says it is doing its best to help while operating on a cut-back budget.

Al Jazeera’s Malcolm Webb reports from Songulola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
