YouTube streamer Keith Gill, also known as “Roaring Kitty” defended his posts about Gamestop corporation before the U.S. House Financial Services Committee on Thursday as part of a hearing examining the historic rally of shares of the video retailer in January.

During his opening testimony, Gill said he considered himself fortunate for the results, and saw the rally reaffirmed he was right about the company’s value, but also demonstrated investing in public securities was "extremely risky" and that it was "alarming" how little is known about the inner workings of the market.

Gill also spoke about his career history, stressing he was not involved in hedge funds, was not a stock broker and did not talk to clients of recommend stocks. He said he supports the right for individuals to “send a message” based on investments and in his case, he “likes the stock.”
