Widespread damage and downed power lines in New Orleans were assessed Thursday, the morning after Hurricane Zeta battered the state as a Category 2 storm.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned of a life-threatening storm surge, powerful winds, and heavy rain as Zeta moved through southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi on Wednesday.

Plus, major flooding from Zeta hit Elkin, N.C, on Oct. 29, with local news outlets reporting power outages and storm damage.
