One of the remarkable things that are happening in Sarasota, Fla., as hurricane Ian comes on shore, is the amount of water that is being sucked out to sea.

That’s due to the direction of the wind and the water disappearing from Sarasota Bay, which is being sucked out to sea, where it will end up as storm surge in other parts of the state.

Of course, the concern is what happens when that water comes back in.
