The French government recently accused Russia of involvement in an online information manipulation campaign which included fake websites set up to imitate newspapers and spread false news about the war in Ukraine.

The European Union says Russian actors are working daily to spread disinformation in Europe and in other parts of the world, so what is the bloc doing about it?

DW sat down with Lutz Güllner, the head of the EU’s disinformation tracking unit in the bloc’s external action service, to ask him how disinformation works, where it’s working, and how to spot it.
