Thousands of protesters gathered at Victoria Park in Hong Kong on Sunday for a protest rally demanding a complete withdrawal of the Chinese extradition bill, as protesters decried police violence against demonstrators throughout the course of the long running protests.
Footage shows thousand of people carrying banners and protest signs through downtown Hong Kong with some protesters carrying signs referencing the alleged excessive use of force by police in clearing demonstrators from a shopping centre in Sha Tin, an area of Hong Kong close to the border with mainland China.
Sunday's protests follow the 'Safeguard Hong Kong' rally where thousands of pro-police protesters gathered in central Hong Kong on Saturday to express their support for the security forces and to call for calm.
Hong Kong has been rocked by weeks of protests following the announcement of an extradition bill that would allow people to be extradited to mainland China to face trial. Some of the protests have ended in violent clashes between police and protesters.
Although the bill has since been suspended, the largely youth-led protests have continued with protesters calling for it to be withdrawn entirely and for Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam to resign.
