Providing an update on Tuesday, Halifax police provided additional details surrounding the charges filed against a 15-year-old student of Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford, N.S. on Tuesday, who was charged with two counts of attempted murder following the stabbing of two staff members on Monday morning.

During the news conference, Halifax regional police chief Dan Kinsella said police will maintain a presence in the school as the investigation continues.

“An incident of this nature is traumatic, not just for those involved, but everyone in the community,” Kinsella said, adding that “this incident does not define our community, it does not define our schools.”

Superintendent Derrick Boyd also outlined the charges, including two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Boyd also added that the investigation is ongoing, and urged any individuals with information to call police or Crime Stoppers.
