These changes by the Government are part of the latest reform of the Resource Management Act.

The changes include, farmers applying for resource consent will no longer have to demonstrate how their activities will impact water health.
Winter grazing and some stock exclusion regulations introduced by the previous government will also be scrapped.

Councils will have requirements to identify significant natural areas suspended for three years.

Farmers are calling it "the end of the war on farming" while environmentalists say it's now "the war on nature" that's ramping up.

1News' Cushla Norman has the reaction from both farmers and environmentalists.
