Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Friday delivered remarks on the results of the 2020 U.S. presidential election in the state, saying that given the record number of absentee ballots and narrowed margin in the state, he had “joined many in backing a hand recount and urging a thorough investigation into any voting irregularities.”

“It’s quite honestly hard to believe that during the audit, thousands of uncounted ballots were found weeks after a razor thin outcome in a presidential election,” he said.

Kemp added that state law requires him to formalize the certification of election results, after the state's top election official approved results showing Democratic president-elect Joe Biden beat Republican President Donald Trump in the state in the Nov. 3 election.
