Good News stories of 2021: Pandemic heroes, tales of survival, and the legacy of the Tragically Hip

As we wrap up 2021, we bring you some much-needed feel-good stories that captivated us this year -- and we take you behind-the-scenes of how those stories came to be.

First, we head to Kingston for the legacy of Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip. Though it's been five years since the band's last concert, there is no doubt that Kingston will be forever hip.

Then, we meet remarkable Canadians who have stepped up during the pandemic and truly made a difference in their communities. From a doctor on the front lines to a nurse who came out of retirement and headed back into the hospital - these are the stories of the everyday heroes who got us through this difficult year.

A Crowsnest Pass, Alta., man known for his remarkable survival and generosity to others had hundreds of people rallied to fund his new prosthetic leg. In 2008, Ken Hildebrand was trapped under an ATV in Alberta’s winter wilderness while out trapping alone, and survived three nights before being found.

And in Peterborough, a 4-year-old boy reunites with the first responders who saved his life when he was only three months old.
